Christmas in Frontignano (Todi) Umbria
Posted by Casa Betti on Jan 25, 2011 in Activities | 0 commentsChristmas in Italy was very cultural and exciting for our family. Our little village, Frontignano, illuminates with hundreds of Christmas lights draped on every home. Italy at Christmas focuses on the Nativity. It seems every town you visit has it’s own interpretation of the Nativity. In the center of our little town, we had one of the most beautiful Nativities. The figurines associated with the Nativity were surrounded by real dirt, clay stones, grass, running water, and moss setting the stage for the birth of the baby Jesus.
The dolce “sweets” for Christmas is called Pantone! Pantone is a wonderfully traditional yellow cake filled with chocolato or dried frutta. Delicious! All the cafes are lined with Pantone in beautifully wrapped foils and ribbon waiting to be given as a gift.
I wish it was Christmas right now because I know that after Pranzo (lunch) I’d enjoy a slice of Pantone with my caffe!
Ci vediamo!
