Autunno a Frontignano
Posted by Casa Betti on Oct 18, 2011 in Wine & Food | 0 commentsAutumn has arrived in Frontignano with the leaves changing colors and the crisp air.
I am looking out my window at the vineyards that have already been harvested and the olive trees that are ready for harvest in a few days. The sun is shining which is a good day to go and gather the walnuts from my trees. The walnuts are in a pod, which you break open, and if the shell of the nut is black it is called “brutto” (no good). If the shell of the nut is brownish/tan it is called “bene” (good).
Hopefully. we will have many “bene” walnuts as this year’s harvest is good compared to last year.
Ciao,
Arlene
